New York’s musical community banded together for a benefit concert at Brooklyn Bowl to help raise money for Jonathan Toubin, who was injured in a freak accident earlier this month. The show’s lineup featured Jon Spencer’s group Heavy Trash, the soulful king of Union Pool Reverend Vince Anderson, and Tunde Adebimpe & Ryan Sawyer’s project, Stabbing Eastward. However, the night belonged to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who gave fans an early holiday treat when they turned back the clock in the form of an Is Is & Fever To Tell filled set. Their “Heads Will Roll” encore created a huge dance pit and even had fans crowd surfing! The band, lead by Karen O’s untamable energy, made us miss the early chapter of Indie when rock shows were chaotic and when standing still wasn’t an option. Back then, live music felt like we were all part of something – and the YYY’s are one of the few bands that haven’t let that go.
