Captured Highlights of 2011
by Chad
2011 turned out to be an amazing year! I finally experienced a live U2 show when they brought their giant 360° space ship to New Meadowlands Stadium. We tagged along with The Raveonettes on some dates of their tour schedule, which even took us across the country to experience LA’s Troubadour and Pomona’s Glasshouse. Linkin Park surprised me when they brought it back hard at MSG, satisfying the Hybrid Theory kid in me – but it also gave me a new perspective on A Thousand Suns, a record that definitely deserves more respect then has been given. Sufjan Stevens redeemed himself with a thought out spectacle at Prospect Park and got the nod for most ridiculous costume of the year – until Karen O showed up on stage at Brooklyn Bowl in a santa suit with “NUT CRACKER” written across the back. I feel that text isn’t always fit to explain being a part of a specific experience, so these images capture some of my favorite moments from the past year – expressing what words clearly could not.
