A New York Minute With Hinds
One of my favorite parts of a photo shoot are the stories and experiences shared by artists along the way. A New York Minute revisits those candid conversations.
It’s been a year since I first got in touch with Hinds after hearing one of their songs at a Topshop. Since then we’ve done two shoots and formed a connection that spans across the globe. Ana reflects back on how, in only six months since we first met, it feels like they’ve had a lifetime worth of experiences.
It’s crazy to think about everything that’s happened for all of you between the first time we met in April and again in October. It seems like you guys have experienced more in the last six months than a handful of people experience in a lifetime. Can you put into words your thoughts and feelings on what the past year has meant to you all?
Chad!!!!!!!!!!!! I never know how to answer such big questions, so I’m just gonna write, ok?? haha
Ok, so right now we’re in Hong Kong. Ade and Carlotta are sleeping on a sofa (because they kicked us out of our room early) and Amber is sitting next to me, writing postcards that we bought at a street market the other day. We only slept for three hours today because of jet-lag, drinking beers in the street and chatting. We also Skyped with a friend and realized we had free breakfast in the hotel, so we lost even more sleep time. We ended up staying awake until 8 a.m. Now, a random guy is coming to pick us up in half an hour and take us to the airport because we are headlining a small festival in Vietnam tomorrow.
How can I not get emotional with those three sentences. Hong Kong, my best friends, music, hangovers and airports. It more or less describes all of our lives right now. We are working very hard, focusing on getting better, being happy, and trying to make this world a little bit better. The funny thing is that it seems to be working. It’s been incredible. – Ana
