The results of the recent national survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute are alarming, revealing a concerning willingness among likely voters to engage in illegal voting activities to support their preferred candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

According to the survey, 28% of likely voters admitted they would be willing to commit voter fraud if it would help their candidate win.

What’s particularly striking is the consistency of this willingness across different candidate preferences, with similar percentages of voters for President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expressing readiness to engage in dishonest behavior.

This suggests that the issue of illegal voting transcends party lines and is a broader concern for the integrity of the electoral process.

The survey also highlights specific scenarios where voters indicated they would be willing to participate in illegal activities, such as filling out and signing mail-in ballots on behalf of others, altering candidate selections on mail-in ballots, voting in multiple states, paying for votes, and providing misleading information about the election.

These findings underscore the urgent need for comprehensive election integrity policies to address vulnerabilities in the voting process and prevent fraud. Justin Haskins, director of the Socialism Research Center at The Heartland Institute, emphasized the importance of implementing such measures to safeguard the integrity of future elections.

Despite the troubling implications of the survey results, it’s essential to recognize that engaging in illegal voting activities is a federal crime.

The willingness of a particular portion of likely voters to commit such offenses underscores the importance of robust enforcement measures and public education efforts to deter fraudulent behavior and uphold the principles of democracy.

With the 2024 presidential election looming, policymakers, election officials, and advocacy groups must prioritize efforts to strengthen election security, promote transparency, and restore trust in the electoral process.

Only through concerted action can we ensure that every vote is counted fairly and accurately, and that the will of the electorate is respected.
