In Naruto: Konoha’s Story Chapter 1, titled ‘Sarutobi Mirai,’ we see young Mirai on a mission. Her mission is to find a missing cat. And the clues led her to the forest. After a lot of struggle, she manages to find it. As she was about to leave, she heard a voice of a man. After going after the voice, she saw the man who was standing in the open field. After seeing his face, she recognized him.
He was mentioned in the Bingo book, and his name was Mezu; he was an assassin. She stood behind the tree to not reveal her presence. But it was too late, as Mezu had already suspected that someone was watching him. As she tried to escape, in a split second, Mezu was behind her. Mirai was so shocked she froze. At that moment, she realized the difference in their power.
Mezu realizes that Mirai is just a child, so he doesn’t bother wasting his time and asks her to leave. But Mirai made a mistake by saying, “You are Mezu the assassin, right?”. Earlier Mezu was not gonna do something to her, but now that she knows him and about his deed in the past, he can’t let her go. Even tho she is just a child, she is still a shinobi. So he finally revealed his doppelganger to her and clarified that he is not the Mezu; we are. Mirai realizes how grave danger she is in. She recalled what her mother taught her about Genjutsu.
So she used her Genjutsu, and in a split second, all the Mezu were inside her Genjetsu, and they were struggling to escape. Mirai was really happy as she dreamed about her being praised for her brilliance. But it was all a dream. Mezu told her such a weak Genjutsu wouldn’t work on him, as he is much superior to her. As he was about to stab her, he suddenly froze. And it was revealed that it was Shikamaru who froze him. Mirai was delighted to see her sensei to her rescue. Shikamaru apologizes for the late rescue. But somehow, Mezu makes an escape, Mirai, who was worried about Mezu escaping, she asked Shikamaru why he let him go. In reply, he told her that anyways Mezu was going towards the danger zone as someone was already waiting for him.
As Mezu is on his way to make the escape, he is confronted by a man who is wearing a cloak. Seeing that it was a single person, he rushed towards him to kill him and to make a successful escape. As he was about to stab, the man in the cloak blocked Mezu’s attack. And it was revealed that the cloaked man was Kakashi Hatake, the sixth Hokage. Mezu was shocked as he never expected a Hokage in the forest. Kakashi told him that as he had to do a lot of desk work, he was just outside for stretching purposes and in the way he encountered him. Mezu realizes that he has no chance against him, and he surrenders.
At the end of the chapter, we see that a few years have passed, and Mirai with Kakashi sensei and Guy sensei are going on a mission.
