Madonna has illuminated the health scare she faced during the summer, opening up to her fans about a time when she doubted her survival. Commencing her long-awaited Celebration tour at London’s O2 Arena this past weekend, the iconic “Hung Up” singer addressed the alarming incident that unfolded over the summer, leading to her hospitalization in the intensive care unit due to a severe bacterial infection.
During the inaugural night of her concert series, the 65-year-old Queen of Pop confided in the audience, as shown in a video acquired by People, “I didn’t think I was going to make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me.”
Madonna continued, “I forgot five days of my life, or perhaps my near-death experience; I don’t truly know where I was. But the angels were protecting me, and my children were there. And my children always rescue me every time.”
