Big brother Jason Kelce expresses some reservations regarding the rumored connection between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. The seasoned Philadelphia Eagles center shared his thoughts with NBC Sports’ Peter King on a Sunday, expressing his genuine happiness for Travis and his “current situation” with Swift while also harboring concerns about Travis’s heightened public attention.
Jason remarked on the unusual level of attention the relationship has garnered, saying, “It’s certainly been unusual, the extent to which it has reached.” He voiced his support for his brother’s newfound excitement and authenticity in the relationship while acknowledging the overwhelming nature of the situation, stating, “But there’s another aspect to it that feels like, ‘Wow, this is a lot.'”
Jason went on to mention that Travis, a four-time first-team All-Pro player, has found himself under the constant scrutiny of paparazzi since rumors about his relationship with Swift began circulating. Jason questioned the necessity of sharing mundane details like Travis fueling his car before a game and noted that this level of stardom is atypical for football players, saying, “This is another echelon of fame that football players usually don’t encounter.”
While expressing his happiness for his brother’s current situation with Taylor, Jason also voiced concerns about the excessive pursuit by the public, emphasizing that Travis can manage most of it as long as it doesn’t pose a threat to his safety.
The apparent relationship between Travis and Swift has received a warm welcome from most, particularly within the Chiefs’ organization. Head coach Andy Reid, in particular, enthusiastically welcomed Swift’s presence, stating that “Taylor can stay around as long as she wants” after Travis’s impressive performance in a recent game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Coincidentally or not, Travis’s on-field performance has excelled since Swift’s introduction. He has averaged 108 receiving yards in the four games attended by the pop star, compared to just 46.5 yards in the two games she did not attend. Furthermore, the Chiefs have maintained a perfect 5-0 record since Swift’s initial appearance at Arrowhead Stadium.
