Singer and songwriter Chris Brown has made an announcement regarding his departure from the Golden State, adding his name to the growing list of celebrities and public figures with similar plans. Brown shared this news on his Instagram stories, expressing, “L.A., it’s been an incredible journey. California will always hold a special place in my heart, but I believe it’s time for me to explore new horizons.”
The initial report of Brown’s decision to leave California was released by TMZ. Joining him in the ranks of those bidding farewell to the Golden State are several other notable figures, including Mark Wahlberg, Scott Baio, Dean Cain, and many more, who have also disclosed their intentions to relocate in recent times.
However, it’s not only Hollywood’s A-list stars and public figures bidding adieu to California; a considerable number of residents are also heading elsewhere. According to a report by Storage Café, a staggering 111,000 individuals, equivalent to 300 daily, made the choice to move from California to Texas in the year 2021. Moreover, a study by Redfin revealed that approximately 25.5% of its 2 million users, or 510,000 individuals, explored the prospect of relocating between April and June of 2023.
Predictably, prospective home buyers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York exhibited a greater interest in leaving these metropolitan areas compared to any other location in the country, likely due to the exorbitant housing costs associated with these cities.
The trend of California residents departing for pastures has been ongoing for several years, gaining momentum during the pandemic when permanent remote work arrangements became a reality for numerous employees. No longer tethered to the high costs of living in major cities, many individuals chose to make their homes in more affordable states like Nevada, Texas, and Arizona.
