Timbaland found himself in hot water when he voiced his support for Justin Timberlake amid the discussion of Britney Spears’ best-selling memoir. This led to a fierce backlash from Britney’s dedicated fan base.
The controversy started when fans picked up on a comment Timbaland made during his live interview with 9th Wonder at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts on October 29th. Timbaland’s response to Britney’s memoir, “The Woman In Me,” in which she claimed that JT impregnated her in 2000, and they decided to terminate the pregnancy, was quite contentious. He suggested that his “SexyBack” collaborator should have restrained Britney and said, “Put a muzzle on that girl.”

Timbaland further explained that he didn’t blame Britney for her candidness, given that generating attention is essential in the current era of social media-driven showbiz. While the live audience reacted with amusement to Timbaland’s remarks, Britney’s fans took offense and demanded an apology, suspecting that he held a long-standing grudge against Britney.
This isn’t the first time Timbaland has been involved in a public feud with Britney. In 2007, he openly criticized her and Justin Timberlake, stating that she needed to apologize if they were to collaborate in the future. Such an apology never materialized, and Britney ended up releasing her “Blackout” album, which featured beats from Timbaland’s former protege Danja, indicating that tension between them still lingers to this day.
