Dwyane Wade publicly acknowledged his respect for comedian Marlon Wayans, who opened up about his intense love for his transgender kid. Wayans recently revealed on “The Breakfast Club” that his transgender son Kai, 23, is the source of inspiration for his next comedy special. Wayans explores his own path as a parent in this program, going from early ignorance and denial to accepting total and unconditional love and acceptance.
Wade complimented Wayans on his transparency at the GQ Men of the Year party in West Hollywood, where I had the chance to talk to him. Wade emphasized the need for unconditional love in promoting understanding, particularly within the Black community. Wade’s own daughter, Zaya, identifies as transgender. He commended Wayans for sharing his story and underlined how crucial it is for parents to talk about the difficulties they encounter in embracing and helping their transgender children.
Wade remarked on the similarity between Wayan’s support for his own child and his own for Zaya. Before their kids get the chance to tell their own experiences, both parents act as voices for their kids. Wade recognized the importance of fathers giving their insights on how to manage and get through such circumstances.
When Zaya revealed her gender identity at the age of twelve, Wade and his spouse, Gabrielle Union, started speaking out in support of the LGBTQ community. In a May 2022 interview with Variety, Wade remarked that parents of transgender children should think back on the intense affection they had when they held their child for the first time. He underlined how crucial it is to hold onto that love in spite of any obstacles that might appear.
