Angelina Jolie is shedding light on her current perspective on the Hollywood landscape, expressing that if she were embarking on her acting career today, she wouldn’t choose the same path in an interview with WSJ. Magazine, she revealed her inclination towards theater over Hollywood, citing the evolving expectations of public exposure and oversharing in the present era.
Reflecting on her beginnings in the industry, Jolie emphasized that there was less pressure to be publicly visible during that time. She remarked, “When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.” Growing up in Hollywood, she never held a profound admiration for the industry, never considering it as significant or crucial.
Discussing her future plans, Jolie disclosed her intention to eventually leave Los Angeles and relocate to her home in Cambodia. She attributed this decision to the aftermath of her divorce, stating, “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel freely. I will move when I can.” She highlighted the shallow nature of Hollywood, deeming it an unhealthy environment and expressing a desire for authenticity elsewhere.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed that she is not currently involved in dating and leads a low-key social life, emphasizing that her “closest friends are refugees.” Jolie also underlined the deep connection she shares with her children, describing them as the closest people in her life and her close friends. She noted their diversity as a familial strength, stating, “We’re seven very different people, which is our strength.”
In addition to her acting pursuits, including the shooting of the Maria Callas biopic, Jolie is diversifying her ventures. She is set to launch a fashion initiative called Atelier Jolie and is in the process of opening a physical space in New York City, expanding her portfolio beyond the realm of Hollywood.
