International Latin music sensation Daddy Yankee recently concluded his illustrious music career, announcing his new purpose in life—to spread the message of Jesus globally. The emotional farewell took place during the final performance of his farewell tour in Puerto Rico. Known for hits like “Gasolina” and “Despacito,” the artist bid a tearful farewell to his fans, emphasizing his commitment to Christianity as a more meaningful path.
Addressing the 18,000-strong audience at the La Meta venue in Spanish, Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, shared the significance of the day, expressing that a life of success differs from a life of purpose. Despite achieving global superstardom, extensive travel, and wealth, he revealed that these accomplishments did not bring the fulfillment he sought. Acknowledging a void that needed filling, he credited Jesus as the solution to that emptiness.
Quoting a poignant Bible verse questioning the worth of gaining the whole world at the expense of one’s soul, Daddy Yankee declared his newfound dedication to Jesus. He openly proclaimed, “I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for Him.”
The Puerto Rican star asserted that all the tools and resources acquired during his music career—such as music, social networks, platforms, and a microphone—are now devoted to serving his faith and contributing to Jesus’ kingdom. Expressing gratitude to Puerto Rico, he invited his followers to join him on this spiritual journey, urging them to “follow Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life.”
In a moment of prayer, Daddy Yankee sought divine guidance, expressing his hope that, just as Jesus allowed him to traverse the world, the Father would permit him to evangelize the world from Puerto Rico.
As a symbolic finale to the show, light-up drones illuminated the sky, forming the shape of a cross and displaying the words “Cristo Viene” (“Christ will come”). This powerful visual spectacle marked the artist’s transition to a new chapter centered around his faith.
