Selena Gomez has officially acknowledged her romantic involvement with record producer Benny Blanco. Following the circulation of a cozy image of the duo on an Instagram fan account last Thursday, the “Only Murders in the Building” actress openly expressed her affection for Blanco in a series of comments.
In response to the post, Gomez pinned a comment that stated, “He is my absolute everything in my heart,” and another simple yet emphatic declaration, “LOVE.” The pop star and actress have recently collaborated on her latest hit, “Single Soon,” and have a history of joint projects, including the 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enough,” where Blanco featured prominently in a teddy bear costume in the music video.
An Instagram post on Gomez’s profile also indicated Blanco’s presence at her July birthday celebrations earlier this year. Despite the joyous revelation, not everyone shares in the happiness of the former Disney star’s newfound romance, prompting the 31-year-old to defend Blanco. In response to a critical fan comment, Gomez asserted, “I don’t understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest. If you don’t, feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever. I’m done. If you can’t accept me at my happiest, then don’t be in (m)y life at all.”
Amidst the celebratory mood, some of Gomez’s fans raised concerns about Blanco’s previous remarks in a 2020 interview promoting “Lonely,” his collaboration with friend and singer Justin Bieber – who happens to be Gomez’s ex-boyfriend. Blanco’s comments were perceived by fans as a veiled swipe at Gomez’s cosmetic brand, Rare Beauty, which she had founded the year before.
However, Gomez seems unfazed by such speculations, dismissing them with a lighthearted response to a fan, saying, “lol yeah, and he’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts.” To another inquiry, she confidently stated, “Then why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me? The end.”
