This weekend saw the reunion of former Today show co-hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie at the wedding of Today show producer Jennifer Long and her husband Reid Sterrett in New York City. This marked the first public appearance together for Lauer and Guthrie since 2017, following Lauer’s dismissal from Today due to allegations of sexual assault made by former network employee Brooke Nevils, which he has denied. Despite arriving separately with their respective partners, the two TV stars were photographed entering the venue with smiles.
Lauer, 65, attended the event with his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, both elegantly dressed with Lauer in a dark gray checked suit, while Abas wore a flowing black dress and silver cardigan. Guthrie, 51, arrived with her husband, Michael Feldman, donning a black velvet dress with white detailing and a chic bow paired with a black blazer. Feldman complemented her look with a black suit, blue tie, and black and white sneakers.
The attendees, including Lauer and Guthrie, were captured in joyful moments at the wedding reception, alongside other notable figures like Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, former GMA3: What You Need to Know co-anchors, and Today’s Hoda Kotb and Al Roker. Robach and Holmes, who recently made appearances at iHeartRadio’s JingleBall concert, displayed happiness despite news of their respective ex-spouses, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, finding love together.
Lauer’s presence at Long’s wedding follows recent changes in his social circle, as reported by a source in November. The source revealed that Lauer has significantly altered his social connections and distanced himself from old friends, even those who supported him post-Today show.
Despite these changes, Lauer, who has been dating Abas since 2019, is described as leading a quieter but content life, markedly different from his pre-dismissal days. The insider noted that he is actively involved in dating, maintaining close ties with his children, and still jointly manages the large horse farm on Long Island with his ex-wife, Annette Roque, indicating a navigated and fairly stable coexistence.
