The Ukrainian Defense Intelligence (HUR) has unveiled a video purporting to depict Ukrainian naval drones successfully eliminating a Russian missile boat carrying 40 Russian soldiers off the coast of Crimea.
Andriy Yusov, the spokesperson for HUR, conveyed to the Kyiv Post the remarkable effectiveness of Ukrainian naval drones. Analysts from the Kyiv Post further detailed the footage, highlighting the impact on a Russian-manufactured warship, noting that it was struck, rolled to the stern, and ultimately sank.
While the specific type of drones employed in the attack was not disclosed by HUR, the Kyiv Post suggests that Kyiv has been utilizing its “Sea Baby Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs)” in recent operations. These USVs were previously deployed in July 2023 to destroy a section of the Crimean Bridge.
The drones utilized in the operation were satellite-controlled and featured a new hull design, characterized by a rising skiff-like bow, distinguishing them from older naval drone models. According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), these advanced drones have a capacity to carry 800kg of TNT with a minimum range of 800km.
