President Biden’s reelection campaign experienced a significant boost in grassroots fundraising in January, marking its most successful month since its inception.
The campaign reported a doubling of grassroots donors who contributed through the JoeBiden.com website from December to January, attributing this surge to the success of the New Hampshire Democratic primary, where Biden secured victory in the write-in initiative and generated heightened grassroots enthusiasm.
Rob Flaherty, deputy campaign manager, emphasized the consistent and robust engagement of Team Biden Harris, highlighting the early and vigorous actions taken by the campaign.
He attributed this success to a formidable grassroots program and a coalition that is mobilized around the critical stakes of the upcoming election.
The campaign revealed that over 130,000 sustaining donors have committed to making monthly contributions, nearly doubling the number compared to the same point in the 2020 election cycle.
Furthermore, approximately one-third of the donor base comprises new contributors who joined since the 2020 campaign.
In terms of financial standing, the campaign disclosed having $117 million on hand, a purported record-breaking sum for any Democratic candidate at this stage of the race, according to campaign aides.
The campaign’s impressive financial position was reinforced by raising over $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2023.
This positive fundraising momentum coincides with Biden’s efforts to build momentum following the South Carolina Democratic primary. The president has made substantial investments in the state, drawing parallels to its pivotal role in propelling him to the Democratic nomination in 2020.
The campaign’s ability to not only sustain but significantly increase grassroots support is indicative of the enduring appeal and mobilization of Biden’s political coalition.
As the election cycle progresses, the campaign’s robust fundraising efforts and the engaged donor base position President Biden favorably as he seeks to secure a second term in office.
