In a recent post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump confirmed his intentions to weigh in on the leadership of the embattled Republican National Committee (RNC) just a day after the upcoming South Carolina Republican primary.
This announcement followed comments made by Trump during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, where he hinted at potential leadership changes. Despite facing a flurry of election and court-related activities at the beginning of the year, Trump maintains a substantial lead in the polls.
With upcoming primaries in Nevada, Michigan, and South Carolina, Trump and others, including RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, have expressed that the primaries are essentially over.

In his Truth Social post, Trump shared optimism about the 2024 Presidential Race against Joe Biden, citing leads in various head-to-head polls. He mentioned plans to travel to Nevada and Michigan, emphasizing the support he received from McDaniel during his successful 2016 run.
“In my successful run in 2016, the State of Michigan really came through – First time in Decades that a Republican won it, and it was headed up by my friend Ronna McDaniel,” Trump wrote.
He stated that a decision regarding his recommendations for RNC growth would be made the day after the South Carolina Primary. Ronna McDaniel has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding these developments.
During the “Sunday Morning Futures” interview, Trump hinted at potential changes to RNC leadership, clarifying that he had no direct involvement with the RNC.
The party recently reported its worst fundraising year in a decade, coupled with Republican losses in the previous year and poorly received GOP presidential debates.
Calls for McDaniel’s resignation intensified in November, and she responded by calling for unity within the party. When asked about the RNC’s financial standing, Trump acknowledged that people were not looking at the RNC and expressed a desire for changes.
He emphasized his lack of direct involvement with the RNC but hinted at potential modifications. In late January, the RNC had considered a plan to endorse Trump as the “presumptive nominee” and focus on defeating President Joe Biden in the general election.
However, Trump opposed the plan, emphasizing party unity, and the resolution was subsequently withdrawn. With most of his rivals for the party nomination having dropped out and endorsed him, Trump’s primary challenger is now former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley.
The upcoming South Carolina primary on Feb. 24 will be a significant battleground, and pollsters predict that Haley’s performance in her home state could determine the future course of her campaign.
