The Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling in December applied this ban to Trump due to the events of January 6, 2021. Now, the former president seeks intervention from the US Supreme Court to overturn this decision.
Before her involvement in the case against Trump, Anderson left an indelible mark on Colorado’s political landscape. A trailblazer in her own right, she served 12 years in the statehouse, becoming the majority leader in the lower chamber from 1997 to 1998.
Subsequently, she secured a seat in the state Senate, achieving the role of majority leader in 2003. Anderson’s legislative focus spanned education, transportation, and healthcare.
Notable achievements include legislation to enhance child literacy, reduce in-state college costs, and establish a home nursing program funded by a landmark lawsuit against major tobacco companies.
As a lifelong Republican, Anderson’s departure from the Colorado legislature in 2006 coincided with shifting state politics.
