A Winery Host Claims to Recall District Attorney Fani Willis Paying in Cash for a Wine Tasting in California’s Napa Valley

District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade’s involvement in the Fulton County case involving former President Donald Trump’s alleged interference in the 2020 Georgia election is under scrutiny, but it’s not yet clear if they will be removed from the case.

One issue that has emerged is Willis’ use of cash, which was highlighted during her recent testimony. Trump co-defendant Michael Roman has alleged that Willis improperly benefited from a romantic relationship with Wade, as she reimbursed him for luxury trips in cash.

Willis testified that while she and Wade went on trips, she always reimbursed him for her share in cash. Critics are concerned about the financial arrangement, especially since Wade was paid over $650,000 in the position appointed by Willis.

Defense attorneys are questioning the cash reimbursements and whether Willis actually paid Wade back in cash. Wade stated that he did not have proof of Willis repaying him in cash.

However, Stan Brody, an employee at Acumen Wines in Napa Valley, recalls hosting Willis and Wade in early 2023 and witnessing Willis pay a bill of over $400 in cash, which he says is not the norm at the winery.

Willis testified that she keeps cash on hand based on her father’s advice to have at least six months’ worth available. Brody, who met Willis and Wade before the indictment, only realized their identities after the case became public. The effort to remove Willis and Wade from the case is ongoing, with a ruling expected after further arguments.
