Annual Nebraska LEAD Recognition Banquet Scheduled for March 15 in Lincoln

Senator Fred Meyer of District 41 in St. Paul will be the keynote speaker at the annual LEAD (Leadership Education/Action Development) Program Recognition Banquet on Friday, March 15. Meyer’s address will focus on leadership development and the need for quality leadership in all aspects of society.

The banquet will honor Nebraska LEAD Class 41 at the Nebraska East Union on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus.

Two members of Nebraska LEAD 41, Joe Ruskamp of North Bend and Chris Beerbohm of Scribner, will be recognized for completing the two-year leadership development program.

The Nebraska LEAD Alumni Association will also present the 2024 “Dr. Allen G. Blezek Friend of LEAD” award during the banquet.

This prestigious award is given annually to an individual or organization with a distinguished history of supporting the Nebraska LEAD Program. This year’s recipient is Donna Hutchens, a long-time friend and supporter of LEAD.

Before the banquet, the Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council will hold its annual meeting at 4:30 p.m., during which the council will elect officers for the 2024-25 term.

The banquet will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6:30 p.m. Reservations for the banquet are $30 and can be made by calling the Nebraska LEAD Program office at 402-472-6810 by March 8.

The Nebraska LEAD Program is a two-year leadership development program for men and women currently active in production agriculture and agribusiness.

The Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council conducts it in cooperation with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
