A 20-year-old Venezuelan woman has been apprehended in relation to the vicious mob attack on two police officers in Times Square, with authorities continuing their search for two additional suspects.

Edgarlis Vegas, a resident of Brooklyn, was apprehended by law enforcement in Midtown Manhattan around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, charged with assaulting a police officer during the tumultuous incident that occurred on January 27, as per the NYPD.

Originally from Venezuela, Vegas is believed to have kicked a police lieutenant during the shocking assault, which was captured on video.

Edgarlis Vegas, aged 20, has been taken into custody for assaulting a police officer in connection with the January incident in Times Square.

Prior to her arrest, police distributed an image of Vegas smiling widely, seeking information on her whereabouts.

Vegas, a Venezuelan citizen residing in Brooklyn, was apprehended in Midtown Manhattan on Monday.

Vegas, who has no prior record of arrests, is the 13th individual detained in connection to the assault on the officers, an incident that reverberated throughout the city and prompted calls for deportation of migrants.

More than six weeks following the altercation on the sidewalk, authorities are still searching for two suspects, one of whom was last seen wearing a bright-red hoodie, while the other was clad in a dark-colored puffer jacket.

The violence erupted when a police officer attempted to detain a migrant who refused to move along on West 42nd Street.

Footage that went viral depicted a group of individuals mercilessly kicking and punching the officer and a lieutenant who was present at the scene.

Over a dozen suspects have since been arrested and charged in connection with the mob assault, including Yohenry Brito, 24, Yorman Reveron, 24, Ulises Bohorquez, 21, Wilson Juarez, 21, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, and Yarwuin Madris, 17.
