Senate and House Republicans have taken action regarding allegations of data manipulation related to climate change statistics by the Biden Administration.
In a letter addressed to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), lawmakers expressed concerns about the accuracy of temperature readings obtained from monitoring stations across the United States.
Led by Utah Senator Mike Lee, the letter obtained by The Daily Caller highlights issues with the placement of temperature monitoring stations.
Lawmakers argue that the readings may be artificially high because the stations are located near buildings, in warmer urban areas, and close to heating elements and other sources of heat.
Additionally, the letter points out that temperature readings are collected by volunteers rather than scientists, raising questions about the reliability of the data.
According to the lawmakers, a significant number of temperature stations fail to meet NOAA’s standards, with 96 percent found to be non-compliant in 2022.
They are demanding answers from NOAA regarding the extent of these problems, the associated costs to taxpayers, and the agency’s plans to address them.
Senator Lee criticized the Biden administration for allegedly promoting “anti-science climate ideology” by relying on questionable statistics.
He argued that temperature monitoring stations in locations prone to giving biased results contribute to a narrative used by politicians to justify increased government control over the economy and the allocation of taxpayer funds.
Lee emphasized the importance of providing Americans with reliable and unbiased scientific data rather than advancing a political agenda.
The letter represents a push by Republicans to hold the Biden administration accountable for its approach to climate change policies and the use of scientific data to support its initiatives.
