In the latest Morning Consult survey on the upcoming presidential election, former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are in a dead heat among registered voters, each receiving 43% support. This marks a narrowing of the race in recent weeks, as Trump had consistently led Biden during the first two months of the year.
Among independent voters, Trump holds a slight lead with 37% support, compared to Biden’s 32%. However, a notable portion of independent voters remain undecided or are considering other options.
Both candidates maintain net favorability ratings underwater, with Trump consistently holding a higher rating than Biden’s, except for a brief period in mid-January.
The survey also highlights the loyalty of voters to their chosen candidate from the 2020 election, with a significant majority of Trump and Biden voters indicating their continued support for their respective candidates.
Congressional Democrats maintain a better net favorability rating compared to Republicans for the 17th consecutive week, according to the survey results.
The economy remains the top issue for voters, followed by national security and healthcare. Immigration has also gained prominence as a significant issue, with a notable increase in the percentage of voters considering it “very important” compared to the 2022 midterm elections.
The latest Morning Consult survey was conducted from March 15-17 among 5,777 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus/minus 1 percentage point.
