As the world grapples with the news of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, the royal family faces another challenging ordeal with King Charles III undergoing treatment for the same illness.
During a recent royal visit to Belfast, Queen Camilla provided an update on her husband’s condition, reassuring well-wishers that His Majesty is “doing very well.” Now, Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, has offered a more detailed update on the King’s health.
In an interview with Sky News Australia, conducted during Phillips’ visit to the country as an ambassador for the sports organization ISPS Handa, he shared insights into the King’s mindset. Phillips conveyed that Charles remains in good spirits despite the circumstances, expressing frustration at his limitations but also demonstrating a pragmatic understanding of the need to prioritize his recovery.
Phillips noted Charles’ eagerness to resume his duties and normal activities, even as he acknowledges the necessity of dedicating time to his well-being.
Buckingham Palace had previously disclosed on February 5 that the King had been diagnosed with cancer and had been advised by doctors to scale back on public engagements while undergoing regular treatment sessions.
Phillips also acknowledged the outpouring of support from the public for both King Charles and Kate Middleton, describing it as “hugely heartening.” He praised Middleton as “remarkable” and commended the teamwork of Kate and Prince William in balancing their public roles with parenting their three children—George, Charlotte, and Louis.
This update from Phillips follows closely after Kate Middleton’s announcement of her own cancer diagnosis. In a video message to the public, she revealed undergoing “preventative chemotherapy” after the discovery of cancer during a planned surgery in January.
Despite the challenges, Middleton expressed gratitude for the care she has received and emphasized the importance of managing the situation privately for the well-being of their family, particularly their children.
Like King Charles, Kate expressed a desire to return to her work once she has sufficiently recovered, underscoring the significance her professional endeavors hold for her. However, she emphasized the necessity of prioritizing her recovery at present.
