Two adolescents have been apprehended in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night outside the Powell Street BART Station in San Francisco.
San Francisco Police Department officers promptly responded to the Hallidie Plaza vicinity of the station at approximately 9:30 p.m., where they discovered a 17-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds, as detailed in a news release issued by the department on Monday. Despite receiving immediate medical assistance from law enforcement and emergency responders, the teenager succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Subsequently, the SFPD has identified two 16-year-old suspects believed to be involved in the shooting, according to the release. The police successfully apprehended one of the teens on Friday, shortly before 6:30 p.m., subsequent to executing a search warrant on Turk Street in San Francisco.
Furthermore, a second teenager was also taken into custody on suspicion of complicity in the shooting. Both individuals have been booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
Radio transmissions from BART police indicate that two teenage males, donning face masks, were observed at the scene of the shooting. A witness account suggests that one of them was seen fleeing towards the BART platform.
