According to Michigan State Police, a tragic incident occurred when a driver lost his life due to a tire detaching from another vehicle, propelling through the air, and striking his car’s windshield and roof.
The unfortunate event took place on Interstate 94 in Ann Arbor around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. A Dodge Journey SUV, operated by a 38-year-old man from Jackson, was traveling westbound when the front driver’s side tire dislodged. Subsequently, it crossed over the median wall and collided with an eastbound car, driven by a 49-year-old man from Dearborn Heights.

Regrettably, the driver of the eastbound car succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as confirmed by police. Fortunately, there were no additional injuries reported in connection with the incident.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause behind the detachment of the tire, leaving the circumstances surrounding the incident unclear.
