Former President Trump took aim at his former attorney general, Bill Barr, on Wednesday night, following Barr’s declaration of support for the GOP presidential ticket despite their past disagreements.
Trump, posting on Truth Social, expressed surprise at Barr’s endorsement, despite their rocky history. He referenced his previous criticisms of Barr, including calling him “Weak, Slow Moving, Gutless, and Lazy.”
However, in light of Barr’s endorsement, Trump stated that he appreciated the endorsement and would remove the word “Lethargic” from his previous comments.
Barr, who served as attorney general during the latter part of Trump’s presidency, recently stated that he would vote for the Republican ticket in the upcoming election, with Trump as the presumptive nominee. He cited his duty to choose the candidate he believed would cause the least harm to the country.
Despite Trump’s earlier praise for Barr, their relationship soured after Barr refuted Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Since then, Barr has been critical of Trump’s behavior and rhetoric, describing him as akin to a “defiant 9-year-old kid” and condemning his calls to dismantle the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act as “crazy and reckless.”
In response, Trump has repeatedly attacked Barr, labeling him a “coward,” “gutless,” and “sloppy,” reflecting the strained dynamic between the two former allies.
