Police are currently investigating a social media post made by Laurence Fox concerning an alleged “upskirting offense.”
The tweet, which was posted on Tuesday, contained a compromising image of Narinder Kaur, a broadcaster known for her appearances on Good Morning Britain and GB News. Although the post remained on Fox’s account until Thursday when it was eventually deleted, the damage had already been done.
Confirming the severity of the situation in a post on X, Kaur expressed her distress, emphasizing that the image had caused her unimaginable mortification. She expressed gratitude for the support she received on social media but admitted feeling deeply embarrassed and upset by the invasion of her privacy.
In response to the incident, a friend of Kaur’s condemned the vicious attacks, stating that Kaur had always been vocal about issues she cared about. They emphasized that Kaur deserved better treatment, especially considering her efforts to make her voice heard in male-dominated spaces with increasingly right-wing rhetoric.
The Metropolitan Police, in a statement to the PA news agency, confirmed that they are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The act of upskirting, which involves taking pictures of individuals under their clothes without their consent, was made a specific criminal offense in 2019. Perpetrators can face imprisonment for up to two years and may be added to the sex offender register.
Kaur, known for her appearance on Big Brother’s second series where she finished ninth, has since established herself as a regular guest and presenter on various shows, including GB News, Good Morning Britain, and Jeremy Vine.
This incident comes shortly after Fox was ordered to pay £180,000 in damages to two individuals he accused of being “paedophiles” in a social media dispute. Following this incident, Fox was dismissed from his role at GB News after a controversial on-air outburst directed at journalist Ava Evans.
