Former President Trump made a series of false claims in a recent interview with a Detroit TV station, doubling down on his stance on abortion while taking credit for the overturning of Roe vs. Wade.
During an interview with FOX-2 Detroit following a rally in Saginaw County, Trump expressed support for the erasure of Roe vs. Wade, emphasizing the importance of allowing states to decide on abortion rights. However, he seemed unaware that Michigan had already enshrined these rights in its constitution through a 2022 voter-approved measure.

Trump also claimed that the Republican Party was the “party of fertilization,” falsely asserting that Democrats were opposed to in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.
He cited IVF as an issue following the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, even though Democrats like Senator Tammy Duckworth have supported IVF access and a bill sponsored by House Democrats aimed at establishing a federal right to access assisted reproductive technology, including IVF.
Additionally, Trump perpetuated false claims about late-term abortions and infanticide, despite evidence to the contrary. He also discussed the recent six-week abortion ban in Florida, attributing the shift of abortion policy to the states as a positive development.

The interview also touched on other topics, including labor policies, unions, immigration, and the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Trump expressed concern about Chinese automakers potentially shifting jobs away from the U.S. and advocated for a strong stance in support of Israel.
However, Trump’s claims about crime statistics and immigration were called into question, as he provided unsubstantiated figures and failed to acknowledge his administration’s role in the Venezuelan migration crisis.
Trump’s interview highlighted his continued support for conservative policies on abortion and other issues, while also underscoring his tendency to make false or misleading statements.
