In a bold move to sway swing voters, a Democratic super PAC, American Bridge 21st Century, is launching a massive $25 million advertising campaign in three crucial states – Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The ads feature heartfelt testimonials from voters who share their personal stories about the devastating impact of former President Donald Trump’s policies on abortion access. This campaign marks the first wave of a larger $140 million effort to persuade voters to reject Trump’s bid for re-election.
The ads, targeting women voters in rural and exurban areas, highlight the emotional toll of Trump’s actions on reproductive rights. One ad features Anna, a Wisconsin OB-GYN and mother of two, who tearfully recounts having to terminate a wanted pregnancy due to the baby’s un-survivable condition.
She passionately declares, “That’s not a decision for any politician, including Donald Trump.” Another ad showcases Lori, a Pennsylvania nurse, worried about the impact of Trump’s policies on her daughter and granddaughter, fearing they will “lose” even more rights if he is re-elected.
American Bridge officials aim to reach four key groups: moderates, swing voters, conservatives disenchanted with hard-right rhetoric, and “double doubters” who are unenthusiastic about both Trump and President Joe Biden.
With a total budget of $200 million for anti-Trump efforts, the group plans to roll out additional testimonial-style ads this summer in these battleground states.
By sharing personal stories and highlighting the human impact of Trump’s policies, American Bridge seeks to mobilize voters and make abortion access a defining issue in the 2024 election.
