Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT), Malawi’s top conservation group, recently updated its look and website with help from UK-based agency sixredsquares. Their goal: raise awareness about environmental issues and stress the importance of protecting wildlife worldwide.
Sixredsquares approached the project with a deep commitment to leveraging design as a catalyst for positive global change. Owen Williams, the agency’s managing director, underscored their alignment with LWT’s mission, highlighting shared values that sparked a synergistic collaboration from the outset.
The revitalized brand strategy aimed not just to aesthetically refresh LWT’s image but also to forge emotive connections with their cause.
Peter Cass, creative director at sixredsquares, explained that the brand overhaul wasn’t superficial; it sought to establish a profound emotional resonance with LWT’s conservation efforts.
This involved integrating bold, modern typography, an expanded color palette, and new visual elements designed to enhance flexibility and engagement. Crucially, the logo was refined for improved legibility and a contemporary aesthetic, reinforcing LWT’s identity without diluting its core message.
Central to the rebranding initiative was the redesign of LWT’s website, which was conceived as a dynamic platform to showcase its initiatives and impact.
Emphasizing visual storytelling and data-driven insights, the new site aimed to captivate visitors with LWT’s passion and effectiveness in addressing environmental challenges. This approach, according to Williams, aimed to provoke attention, compassion, and proactive engagement from a global audience.
The agility of the new website was a pivotal feature, enabling LWT to swiftly update content and respond to current environmental issues. This responsiveness, as noted by Cass, is crucial in maintaining relevance and fostering ongoing support from donors and partners.
Pádraic MacOireachtaigh of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust praised the project’s outcome, citing the modernized visual identity and user-friendly interface as instrumental in enhancing connections with stakeholders.
The collaboration between LWT and sixredsquares represents a harmonious blend of design innovation and conservation advocacy. By revitalizing LWT’s brand and digital presence, the initiative not only aims to elevate awareness of environmental imperatives but also to galvanize meaningful action and support for wildlife conservation in Malawi and beyond.
