In a heated exchange on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) lambasted the Democrats for what he described as an unprecedented political subterfuge concerning President Biden’s health.
Johnson’s comments came in response to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) recent advice to her party to delay public discussion of Biden’s health until after this week’s crucial NATO summit.
“It’s astonishing to observe the spectacle coming to play on Capitol Hill,” Johnson remarked to host Laura Ingraham, dissecting Pelosi’s strategy and its implications for her confidence in Biden.
“The Democrats are in complete disarray. They lack a contingency plan and are grappling with a profound issue,” he asserted. “This is arguably the most important political cover-up in American history.”
Ingraham further probed Johnson on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) steadfast support of President Biden, encapsulated in his repeated statement, “I’m with Joe,” despite growing doubts about Biden’s campaign viability post a lackluster debate performance. Schumer’s carefully chosen words have left many questioning his genuine endorsement of Biden’s reelection.
“Schumer’s phraseology is deliberately ambiguous,” Johnson observed. “His repetition of it is uncharacteristic, as he typically provides extensive commentary. The Democrats are in a quandary, unable to articulate a clear stance,” he continued. “Their predicament is self-inflicted, stemming from years of concealing the truth from the American public.”
Johnson didn’t mince words about the media’s role, suggesting they colluded with the Democrats in this “charade.” He added, “The facade has crumbled, and the reality is now visible to all.”
Concerns about Biden’s mental fitness have intensified since his perceived faltering during a June 27 debate with former President Trump. The incident has amplified anxiety within Democratic ranks about Biden’s capacity to either defeat Trump or manage another term in office, prompting increasing calls for him to step down.
