A tragic shooting in Alabama has resulted in the deaths of one woman and four children, all under the age of eight. The incident has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old relative, Brandon Kendrick, who now faces five counts of capital murder. The Bibb County Sheriff, Jody Wade, confirmed Kendrick’s relationship to the victims, stating he was the father of two of the children and related to the other three.
Three children were found dead at the scene, while the woman and another child were transported to hospitals where they later died from their injuries. The incident occurred on Thursday night in Bibb County, a community of 22,000 people. Emergency services received the first call at around 8:18 p.m. CDT, reporting a child had been shot.
Kendrick was apprehended without resistance on Thursday following the shootings. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding the relationship between Kendrick and the adult woman, nor have they speculated on a possible motive for the crime. The investigation remains ongoing as officials seek to understand the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
Sheriff Wade expressed the toll the incident has taken on the community and first responders, who were on the scene throughout the night. “It’s a helluva thing for all the first responders that went out until the scene and were there until daylight this morning,” Wade commented. He acknowledged the long and challenging night faced by those involved in responding to the distressing situation.
