On Tuesday, former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) announced his decision to support former President Trump and Senate candidate Kari Lake (R) in the upcoming November elections, despite having previously clashed with both figures. “This election year carries huge stakes, and I urge all eligible Arizonans to vote and focus on the issues impacting our state and nation,” Ducey stated.
Ducey, who ended his term as governor in 2023, emphasized that his endorsement was influenced by critical issues such as border security, school choice, the extension of Trump-era tax cuts, and inflation. “I will be voting for Republicans across the board in November, and both Donald Trump and Kari Lake have my full endorsement,” he added.

Lake will face off against Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) in the Senate race, while Trump is set to compete against Vice President Harris. Ducey had previously clashed with Lake, endorsing Karrin Taylor Robson in the 2022 gubernatorial primary against her, criticizing Lake for allegedly misleading voters about the 2020 election’s integrity. Lake lost the gubernatorial race to Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Additionally, Trump had pressured Ducey after the 2020 election over Arizona’s results, which showed President Biden narrowly winning the state. Trump had reportedly urged Ducey to find additional votes to reverse the outcome.
According to a Decision Desk HQ/The Hill average of polls, Trump leads Harris by 1.3 percentage points, while Gallego is ahead of Lake by approximately 6 percentage points in the Senate race.
