Former President Donald Trump expressed high praise for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. early Thursday, despite speculation that the independent presidential candidate might withdraw from the race and endorse Trump.
In a conversation with “Fox & Friends,” Trump described Kennedy as someone he has known for a long time, noting Kennedy’s unique personality and intelligence. “He’s a very smart guy, a good person,” Trump said.
He added that if Kennedy were to endorse him, it would be an honor. Trump appreciated Kennedy’s heartfelt commitment and acknowledged that while some of Kennedy’s policies resonate with many, others might be divisive.
Kennedy’s campaign has announced that he will make a crucial statement on Friday in Arizona, coinciding with Trump’s visit to the state for a speech. According to multiple sources familiar with both campaigns, there is growing speculation that Kennedy will reveal his decision to end his campaign and endorse Trump. However, these reports emphasize that no final decisions have been confirmed yet.
Earlier in the week, Trump indicated that he would be open to offering Kennedy a position in a future administration. The two discussed a potential endorsement during their phone call at the Republican National Convention.
Kennedy, who is 70, has faced challenges maintaining momentum in the race. Despite briefly reaching double-digit polling numbers, his support has dwindled to single digits as the race tightens between Trump and Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
