In a recent interview, former President Trump suggested that Tesla CEO Elon Musk might be too occupied with his businesses to take a Cabinet position if Trump wins in November but indicated Musk could serve in a consultative role.
Trump mentioned in his conversation on the “Shawn Ryan Show” that although Musk would be an excellent addition to the Cabinet, his numerous responsibilities would likely prevent him from taking on such a role. Instead, Trump proposed that Musk could provide valuable ideas and insights as a consultant.
The former president highlighted Musk’s expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), noting Musk’s ownership of the AI startup xAI and his efforts to integrate AI technology at Tesla.
Previously, Trump had hinted at the possibility of offering Musk a position in his Cabinet. Musk, who also runs the social platform X (formerly Twitter), has expressed his support for Trump’s presidential campaign and contributed to a super PAC backing Trump’s bid.
Trump praised Musk’s intelligence in a recent Reuters interview, affirming his willingness to consider Musk for a Cabinet or advisory position if Musk were interested.
Earlier this month, during a two-hour exchange on X, Musk expressed his willingness to join a government commission focused on national debt and congressional spending. He proposed creating a government efficiency commission to ensure taxpayer money is used effectively and offered his assistance for such a role.
Currently, Trump is trailing Vice President Harris by 3.7 percent in the 2024 race, as reported by The Hill-Decision Desk HQ polling average. Harris secured the Democratic nomination after President Biden exited the race last month.
