A source informed Us Weekly that Reese Witherspoon, 48, and financier John Haarmann, 57, have shifted from a friendship to a romantic relationship. The new couple was recently seen walking hand-in-hand during a vacation in New York City on Wednesday, September 4.
Photographs published by Page Six captured Witherspoon and Haarmann leaving their hotel and holding hands as they made their way to an awaiting SUV. Witherspoon donned a chic short-sleeved black dress and heels, while Haarmann looked sharp in khaki pants, a navy-blue blazer, and a light blue button-up shirt.
Later that evening, the duo attended the Assouline opening event, where guests like Roger Federer and Anna Wintour were also present. This sighting marks the second time the pair has been seen together in just over a month. The couple previously arrived in New York on Monday, July 29, via helicopter before heading to an apartment in the city.
During their time in the Big Apple, Witherspoon and Haarmann were spotted dining together at L’Artusi in the West Village, according to People. Haarmann, who is a minority co-owner of the New York Islanders hockey team and a founding partner of Searchlight Capital, boasts impressive academic credentials with a BA in international relations and history from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Witherspoon, a Hollywood veteran since her early 1990s debut in The Man in The Moon, remains one of the industry’s biggest names, known for starring in films such as Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions, and The Morning Show. Currently, Witherspoon is preparing for the upcoming third season of Big Little Lies, which she not only stars in but also produces alongside Nicole Kidman.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Witherspoon and Kidman discussed the highly anticipated return of the series, which is adapted from Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel. Witherspoon recalled how she would often receive calls from Kidman inquiring about season 3, which led to the pair sharing their mutual excitement about the show’s future.
Kidman confessed her enthusiasm, which Witherspoon echoed, revealing that fellow cast members Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley were equally eager for updates on the new season. Despite the actresses’ shared excitement, an official release date for season 3 has yet to be announced.
