Artem Chigvintsev has once again included his wife, Nikki Garcia, in his Instagram bio after previously removing her name due to his recent arrest on allegations of corporal injury to a spouse. In the early hours of Saturday, September 7, the Dancing with the Stars pro had removed the link to Garcia’s profile, along with the bride and diamond ring emojis that were once part of his bio, leaving out the WWE alum (formerly Nikki Bella).
However, by later that same day, Chigvintsev, 42, restored the mention of Garcia, 40, in his bio. The final line now reads: “nikkigarcia.” His updated bio also highlights their 4-year-old son, Matteo, while the rest of the text remains: “DWTS Pro Dancer Emmy Nominated Choreographer DWTS Mirror Ball Winner SCD Mirror Ball Winner.”
These social media changes come just days after Chigvintsev’s arrest on charges of corporal injury to a spouse on Thursday, August 29, which occurred only two days after he and Garcia celebrated their second wedding anniversary.
The dancer was taken into custody shortly before 10 a.m. and booked into Napa County Jail within the hour. He was released later that day after posting a $25,000 bond. Following his release, a 911 call made by Chigvintsev prior to his arrest surfaced.
In the audio, which TMZ published on September 1, the dispatcher stated that Chigvintsev claimed Garcia had thrown shoes at him during a disagreement. The dispatcher can be heard explaining that the call initially came in as a medical request, but Chigvintsev later mentioned he and his wife had a verbal altercation, with Garcia allegedly throwing shoes at him, according to TMZ.
The dispatcher also noted, “There is a child on scene. Medical en route,” referring to their son, Matteo. In response to the situation, Garcia’s representative told PEOPLE, “This is a private matter, and Nikki requests privacy for her and her family at this time.” A representative for Chigvintsev did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
