Fans are getting a unique look into the life of Maren Morris’ son, Hayes. On Saturday, September 21, the 34-year-old country singer posted a picture on her Instagram Stories showing her 4-year-old son in his baseball uniform at a game.
Dressed in a red jersey adorned with his last name and the number 3, along with coordinating red socks, Hayes was seen holding a bat and seemed poised to swing.
While Morris typically maintains privacy regarding Hayes, often obscuring his face with emojis or capturing him from behind in her social media posts, she has previously shared insights into their special mother-son relationship.
Last month, the “Girl” singer discussed with PEOPLE the joy of having Hayes accompany her on the road during the RSVP Redux Tour, which they both enjoyed. “He absolutely loves being on the road, and it’s been such a fun summer having him with me.
We feel like partners in crime, and this bus journey feels like it could last forever,” Morris shared. “Seeing how much he loves it out here makes me incredibly happy.”
Additionally, she talked about her new EP Intermission, revealing that one song, “Because, Of Course,” serves as a “love letter” to her son. “I wrote it for him,” she explained. “It represents my promise to him: a mother’s love should always be unconditional. I love that people might interpret it as a romantic song, but my intention was purely about love itself.”
During this conversation, Morris also touched on her divorce from Ryan Hurd, which was finalized in January 2024, shortly before she publicly came out as bisexual.
“There are so many emotions involved when you have a child with someone and the relationship doesn’t work out. You have to maintain a brave and consistent front for your child,” she said.
Reflecting on how their divorce might affect Hayes, she added, “He’s gone through a lot and must be feeling confused, given his age. But I believe Ryan and I have done an excellent job co-parenting.”
Despite the challenges of the past year, Morris expressed gratitude for Hayes, saying he “definitely helped me through a lot.” “Whether he realizes it or not—though I doubt he does—I just want to be the best mom I can for him,” she concluded.
