Jessica Alba recently praised her teenage daughters, Honor, 16, and Haven, 13, for their stylish rewearing of her old red carpet dresses, declaring they did a “better” job during the premiere of her Netflix film, Trigger Warning, in June.
Expressing her excitement, Alba mentioned that Honor opted for her Prada dress from the London premiere of Valentine’s Day in 2010, while Haven chose her Dolce & Gabbana outfit from a Comic-Con event promoting Good Luck Chuck in 2007. Speaking to PEOPLE, she stated, “I love reusing things, and I love two or three uses out of anything, especially a red carpet look.”
The idea for the dresses originated from Alba herself, as she wanted to avoid buying new outfits for a single event. “I knew they were going to the screening for Trigger Warning, and I was like, ‘Would you guys wear these dresses? I picked them out. I think they would look really cute on you, but if you don’t like them, it’s okay,'” she explained.
Describing the moment, Alba recalled, “It was just really cute, and then they were both like, ‘Yeah, okay, fine. It’s cute. Yeah, I’ll wear it.’” She added that both daughters believed they looked better in the dresses—“which, by the way, they did. True story.”
Alba had previously shared her daughters’ choice to wear her archived outfits in an Instagram post, expressing her pride. “I loooove seeing my girls wear some of my archived pieces and adding their own touch 🫶🏽 #FashionFriday,” she captioned.
In a recent discussion with PEOPLE for the My Life in Pictures series, Alba reflected on the bittersweet realization that her daughter Honor has grown taller than her. “You don’t really understand time until you watch a little person go from being just a blob who can’t talk or do anything useful except for just look cute, and then they grow up to be people with opinions,” she shared.
“And they tell you, ‘Oh no, Mom, you cannot plan my 16th birthday.’ What do you mean? I birthed you; this is my birthday too!” In addition to her two daughters, Alba is the mother of a six-year-old son named Hayes, whom she shares with her husband, Cash Warren.
