Daisy Kelliher has opened up about her experience with a second round of egg freezing. The star of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, now 37, explained through several Instagram posts that she decided to freeze her eggs again to enhance her chances of having a child in the future.
In her initial post, she shared a selfie in a hospital gown, complete with a blue hair bonnet, before the procedure. She followed this with a video showing a friend checking in on her while she rested in a clinic bed. “Good. [I’m] just very tired and bloated, [and] I have cramps,” she replied.
In her caption, she reflected on how it had been “over a week” since the procedure and listed her main physical symptoms during the process as “bloating, tiredness,” and hunger, all of which vanished afterward.
Kelliher mentioned that she felt “quite prepared” this time around due to her prior experience, though she struggled a bit with the “time frame” she had set for the procedure.
The chief stewardess revealed that she collaborated with Apricity Fertility Clinic for this egg-freezing attempt, aiming to retrieve five eggs. However, the doctor managed to secure only “three eggs” from “six follicles,” leaving them uncertain about the reasons behind this outcome.
“I was pretty upset,” Kelliher confessed. “To have an expectation and not reach that expectation was very disappointing. Physically, I’m fine, but mentally I find the whole thing so draining.” She added, “Nine months ago, I got 10 eggs, and now only three. It creates intrusive thoughts in your head.”
In a subsequent post, the reality TV star shared a photo of herself smiling in a clinic bed after the procedure. She expressed her desire to document “this journey for women looking for information” and noted that she was feeling “so much better about it all now.”
“I took control of my future and have 13 frozen eggs to use if I choose to in the future,” she shared. “This doesn’t guarantee a baby, but it ensures I did what I could for when the time is right.”
She concluded with thoughts for anyone facing fertility challenges, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love and support she received throughout her journey.
In a video posted earlier this month, Kelliher explained her motivation for the second egg retrieval, stating that her first experience had gone so well that she felt it was worth trying again in hopes of building a family.
“The reason I decided to freeze my eggs is that I was 36, now I’m 37, and I am still single. I would like the option to have a family,” she articulated in the clip. “At the moment, I would like a family, but if that doesn’t happen, that’s okay.” Kelliher is set to return for the fifth season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, premiering on October 7 at 9/8 ET on Bravo.
