Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn were recently seen together at a public event, marking a rare outing for the couple. On September 30, the 88-year-old director and his 53-year-old wife attended the opening night of McNeal at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in New York City. This production features Robert Downey Jr. in his Broadway debut.
The star-studded evening also attracted celebrities like Jason Bateman, Justin Theroux, Will Arnett, Paul Rudd, and Matt Damon, who all attended the premiere.
McNeal features an impressive cast, including Brittany Bellizeare, Rafi Gavron, Melora Hardin, Andrea Martin, Ruthie Ann Miles, and Saisha Talwar, and is scheduled for a limited run until November 24. Since their marriage in December 1997, Allen and Previn have welcomed two adopted children, Bechet, 25, and Manzie, 24.
The couple was last spotted taking a stroll in New York City on April 24. In September 2023, they attended the Venice Film Festival alongside their daughters, where the family appeared together on the red carpet for the premiere of Allen’s 2023 film, Coup de Chance.
During a press conference at the previous year’s festival, Allen expressed his feelings of gratitude, stating, “I was lucky my whole life really. I had two loving parents, I have good friends. I have a wonderful wife and marriage, two children.”
Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Allen and Mia Farrow, has previously accused him of sexually abusing her during her childhood, allegations he has consistently denied. In a rare September 2023 interview with Variety, Allen described the accusations as having “no merit.”
Previn, who is the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and her ex-husband André Previn, became involved with Allen while he was still in a relationship with Farrow. Their affair eventually led to Allen’s breakup with the Rosemary’s Baby actress in the early 1990s.
