Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, experienced an instant connection from the very beginning. On the Oct. 8 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 38-year-old singer reminisced about their initial date and how she recognized he was her perfect match.
“When you know, you know,” Ciara expressed. “From day one, we sat down and talked. It’s amusing because we always laugh about how we talked for so long and had such a great conversation that we forgot to eat.”
As they left the restaurant, still feeling hungry, Ciara shared that they exchanged thoughts about their first meeting: “He told his friend in the elevator going down, ‘She’s the one.'”
Fortunately, both of them felt the same spark. “I called my best friend, Yolie, who is my matron of honor and has been my makeup artist for 24 years,” she shared. “I said, ‘Yolie, I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think…’ She immediately responded, ‘He’s the one?’ and I said, ‘Yes.’”
Prior to her relationship with Wilson, Ciara was engaged to rapper Future, with whom she shares a son, Future Zahir, born in 2014. Shortly after her first date with Wilson, 35, she introduced him to her son and her father, Carlton Harris, all on the same day.
At that moment, Ciara realized Wilson was meant for her. “We were all in the house together. My dad was in the living room, Future was crawling on the floor, and there was a silver chair in the kitchen that was about to fall,” she recounted.
“[Wilson] smoothly slid across the kitchen and caught that chair, and I thought, ‘Oh, OK,’” Ciara recalled with a laugh. “It was kind of sexy, but also really cute.” The couple married on July 6, 2016, and they have since welcomed three children: daughters Amora Princess and Sienna Princess, along with son Win Harrison.
Ciara described Wilson as someone who has always embraced family life. “Since day one, he’s been all in,” she said. “He attends the parent-teacher conferences and pays attention to every detail, ensuring that sports, gymnastics, and everything else is well organized.”
