Bill Maher shared that he has no tolerance for conflict in his romantic life during a conversation with Dr. Phil McGraw on the latest episode of Club Random with Bill Maher.
The topic came up when McGraw asked Maher to describe his ideal partner. As someone who has never been married, Maher expressed a rejection of the common belief that arguments are a normal part of relationships.
Maher explained his outlook on relationships, insisting he doesn’t believe conflict should be inevitable. McGraw then asked whether Maher actively avoids conflict.
In response, Maher humorously mentioned that he tends to be drawn to women who aren’t interested in marriage. Reflecting on what he has learned over the years, he said, “You can love many people for different reasons, but the real question is, who fits with you?”
Maher noted that much of the relationship advice he’s encountered centers around how couples resolve arguments. However, he dismissed that idea outright, saying, “I don’t buy into that. I don’t want fights or conflict—ever.”
Dr. Phil pressed him, asking if this meant he avoids conflict. Maher clarified, “It’s not about avoiding it. If both people just accept each other as they are, there’s no reason for conflict. You do you, I do me.”
Maher then shifted the conversation, addressing his aversion to nagging. “If I don’t do this with women, do you think I’m going to put up with it from a guy?” he joked. “There’s no nagging or pressure in my life. I don’t understand why people complicate things.”
The interview follows Maher’s recent sighting with Noor Alfallah, known for her relationship with Al Pacino. Page Six obtained photos of Maher and Alfallah leaving the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles after midnight in a black sedan. At the time, Alfallah, 30, was reportedly still involved with Pacino, 84, though representatives for both Pacino and Maher declined to comment on the matter.
In a related update, Pacino recently told Conan O’Brien that director Francis Ford Coppola criticized his early portrayal of Michael Corleone while filming The Godfather.
