The romance between Giada De Laurentiis and Shane Farley remains strong. Their first encounter occurred in 2013, during which De Laurentiis was still married to Todd Thompson, her husband at the time and the father of her daughter, Jade.
Following their divorce in 2014 after 11 years together, De Laurentiis chose to take a break from dating to focus on herself. In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, she reflected on her post-divorce period, stating, “After I divorced, I spent about a year and a half alone, not dating, just figuring things out. I had been with Jade’s dad for 25 years.
I didn’t know what it meant not to be married. Once I got settled, Shane and I reconnected, and I felt like a kid again.” Nearly a decade has passed since De Laurentiis and Farley began their relationship. In October 2024, she shared with PEOPLE that their enduring partnership thrives on “a lot of laughter” and “patience.” So who is Shane Farley? Here’s everything to know about Giada’s long-time partner.
Farley has made a name for himself as an award-winning producer. While De Laurentiis has primarily worked on-screen, Farley’s expertise lies behind the camera. A four-time Emmy Award winner, he has been involved in creating, managing, and consulting for popular shows such as The Rachael Ray Show, The Voice, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, and The Steve Harvey Show.
Additionally, he collaborated on De Laurentiis’ program, Giada at Home 2.0, while they quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic. De Laurentiis shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their home production setup, highlighting the family atmosphere with Jade and Farley featured in the video.
“Never thought I’d be shooting a @foodnetwork show on my iPhone… but here we are! Giada at Home 2.0 season is premiering this Sat at 12pm on @foodnetwork! Here’s a bts look at how we shot it… a family project!!! Special thx to Jadey & @shanefarley #wecook,” she wrote in the post.
Currently, Farley is involved in the show Brunched by an Angel, which features three psychic mediums connecting audience members with their deceased loved ones. Their professional relationship began when Farley was brought on board to produce a talk show featuring De Laurentiis and her friend, fellow Food Network star Bobby Flay, in 2013.
During their initial meeting, Farley remarked on her intelligence and humor, thinking, “God, she would be a great host for a show.” Despite the talk show never materializing, they forged a strong friendship.
In 2015, Farley relocated to Los Angeles, where he was hired for FABLife, a daytime talk show initiated by Tyra Banks. Their paths crossed frequently at the same studio, leading to shared drinks and conversations.
“Eventually, we started dating,” he revealed in a 2018 interview with PEOPLE. He also praised De Laurentiis, saying, “Giada is one of the most positive people I have ever met. She’s warm and absolutely beautiful — what you see on the outside is there on the inside as well.”
Prior to his relationship with De Laurentiis, Farley was married for 15 years to Jennifer Giamo, a personal trainer based in New York. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2015, just before Farley’s move to Los Angeles, and they do not have children together.
Giamo later wrote an open letter for Thrive Global, discussing how she coped with the divorce, turning to meditation and Shamanism for healing. “As someone who hardly missed a workout, I didn’t have the energy to walk my dog,” she wrote, detailing her struggle with destructive habits. “I knew I had to try something different.
A friend suggested I see her Shaman… Learning to cope in the repercussion of divorce using these types of alternative methods can offer hope in what seems like a hopeless situation.” Farley has formed a close bond with De Laurentiis’ daughter, Jade, over the years.
“I do not have children and to be able to have such a well-adjusted, fun kid around has been really nice,” he shared with PEOPLE. “She’s just a great child. She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s adorable.”
The trio frequently shares moments together on social media, from celebrating holidays to vacations and milestones, like Jade’s middle school graduation in 2022. De Laurentiis proudly shared a series of images from the event, including one with Farley and Jade.
“I can’t believe how fast time flies! Soo proud of u Jadey! ♥️ On to the next exciting chapter- 9th grade!! #mommymoments,” she captioned the post. Traveling is a shared passion for De Laurentiis and Farley.
Their adventurous spirit has led them to destinations like Hawaii, Miami, Italy, and New York City, where they indulge in the sights and delicious cuisine. Jade often accompanies them, but even when she is absent, they keep her in mind. During a couple’s trip to New York City in 2022, De Laurentiis shared that she spent much of the trip on the phone with Jade, who was away at summer camp.
“Shane’s really enjoying our trip 🤪 @shanefarley,” she quipped, captioning a montage of their outing while frequently chatting with her daughter. Food is a key aspect of De Laurentiis’ heart, and Farley knows how to impress her.
To celebrate her 52nd birthday, he took on the challenge of making chicken biryani, a dish she specifically requested, dedicating four days to perfecting it. He shared his culinary journey on her Instagram, humorously noting his usual comfort zone of “six or seven ingredients tops” while making multiple grocery trips.
His efforts were rewarded as De Laurentiis raved, “The man has been working on this dish for four days, and it is divine.” During the renovation of her kitchen, he surprised De Laurentiis with a cardboard cutout of her in an elegant black gown.
In the 2021 Discovery+ special My Dream Kitchen: Giada De Laurentiis, she showcased the creation of her custom kitchen tailored to her professional needs. While visiting the construction site with Jade and Farley, he revealed the cutout, suggesting it be incorporated into the design.
De Laurentiis enthusiastically dated the cutout before it was permanently placed in the wall. “Shane’s a lot of fun. He’s very spontaneous and loves to laugh,” she reflected in a 2018 PEOPLE interview. “It’s one of my favorite things about our relationship.”
