Hank Williams Jr. and Brandi Williams built a friendship over two decades before officially becoming husband and wife. Their engagement came in May 2023, following a difficult period for Hank after the sudden passing of his wife of 32 years, Mary Jane Thomas, in March 2022.
Mary Jane’s death was caused by a collapsed lung during elective surgery. Before that, Hank had been married twice—first to Gwen Yeargain from 1971 to 1977, and later to Becky White from 1977 to 1983.

Although Hank hasn’t made any public statements about his marriage to Brandi, their relationship became Instagram official in January 2023. The country singer shared a post of the two dressed in camouflage, enjoying a hunting trip, with the caption, “Sweethearts, Hank & Brandi.”
Their connection stretches back to 2003, when they first met, and while they keep most aspects of their relationship private, they often post photos of their outdoor adventures, especially hunting and fishing.
Before marrying Hank, Brandi, originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was married to artist and musician Jason Irvin. Their wedding took place in December 2005, and though the exact timeline of their separation remains unclear, the couple shares three children—Alexis, JB, and Ava. Brandi’s three kids also attended her wedding to Hank in September 2023, as shown in a photo she shared on Facebook.
Hank has children from his earlier marriages as well. With Gwen, he welcomed his son Hank Williams III, and with Becky, he had two daughters, Holly and Hilary. His third marriage to Mary Jane brought him two more children, Katherine and Samuel. Katherine tragically lost her life in a car accident in 2020 at the age of 27.
On Mother’s Day in 2023, Hank proposed to Brandi, and the engagement was publicly confirmed a few months later. A since-deleted post from The Pure Hank Radio Show on Facebook shared a photo of the couple, referring to them as newly engaged.
Their wedding took place on September 9, 2023, in a quiet ceremony in Alabama. According to a Facebook post from Hank’s official account, the couple exchanged vows at the Enon Baptist Church in Banks, Alabama, with only close family and friends present. A reception followed at Kendall Hall in Troy, Alabama.
Shortly after, Hank’s Instagram featured a wedding photo showing the couple at the altar, surrounded by floral arrangements, with Brandi in a glittering white gown and Hank in a black suit and sunglasses. “Mr. and Mrs. Hank Williams Jr.,” the caption read.
At the reception, Brandi added a playful touch by wearing a white cowboy hat adorned with the words “Mrs. Bocephus,” a nod to Hank’s well-known nickname. The wedding’s hair and makeup artist, Tori Howard, shared glimpses of the event on social media, including a photo of the couple walking hand-in-hand down the aisle.
Though they prefer to keep their personal lives away from the spotlight, Hank and Brandi enjoy documenting their outdoor adventures. On July 4, 2023, Hank’s Instagram shared a post showing the couple fishing, with Brandi proudly displaying her engagement ring while holding a fish.
A month after their wedding, they posted another update from a hunting trip in Montana, captioned, “Great morning in Montana,” which Brandi also shared on her Facebook.
