Olivia Dunne has shared new insights into her relationship with MLB star Paul Skenes. The 22-year-old gymnast revealed to PEOPLE that despite being very different from each other, their contrasting personalities create a harmonious balance.
“We’re like yin and yang,” she explained, highlighting how their differences contribute to the strength of their relationship. Dunne, who recently became a co-owner, equity shareholder, and ambassador for Jake Paul’s brand W on October 23, embraces her life in the public eye.
“I enjoy being on social media and in the spotlight,” she said, contrasting with Skenes, who has no interest in online platforms. “He doesn’t even have social media on his phone,” Dunne added, pointing out that he avoids it altogether.
Despite these differences, Dunne feels their opposite natures complement each other perfectly, making their connection work. Currently, in her fifth year at LSU, she emphasized how their relationship continues to thrive.
Although Skenes stays away from the limelight, the couple shares a mutual dedication to their sports. Dunne admitted that his disciplined approach to life has inspired her. “Paul holds me accountable, and I really appreciate that,” she noted. “It’s not always easy to push yourself, and his work ethic has made me a better athlete.” His advice played a crucial role in her personal growth last season.
While Skenes is adjusting to newfound fame, Dunne is helping him direct his attention. “He’s getting used to being in the spotlight, and I hope I’ve been able to support him along the way,” she said. With her 8 million followers on TikTok and another 5.3 million on Instagram, Dunne has grown accustomed to managing public attention.
The two first crossed paths in July at Michael Rubin’s white party in the Hamptons, though they had followed each other on social media for years. Jake Paul, who recognized Dunne’s impact when seeking new partners for his brand, praised her ability to balance content creation with her athletic career. “People think it’s easy, but it’s really a full-time job,” Paul told PEOPLE, describing her efforts.
Dunne has admired Paul since his early days on Vine. “I was a fan back then,” she recalled, referring to the now-defunct platform where Paul first gained popularity. Their meeting at Rubin’s party left a lasting impression on her. “His drive stood out to me right away,” she said, expressing admiration for his authenticity.
Jake Paul’s resilience and refusal to conform resonate with Dunne, especially as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Mike Tyson on November 15. “He stays true to himself no matter what,” Dunne remarked. “Even when people try to bring him down, he finds something positive every day. That mindset aligns perfectly with what the brand stands for.”
