Chrissy Teigen did not anticipate how John Legend would respond to her Halloween mask prank. On October 25, Teigen, 38, shared an Instagram Reel where she tried to surprise her husband, Legend, 45, by wearing a Michael Myers mask from the famous horror franchise. Instead of being startled, Legend’s unexpected reaction left him laughing uncontrollably.
In the clip, Teigen, dressed in a white bathrobe, places the mask over her face and lies on a bed, waiting for about 10 minutes to catch him off guard. “Let’s try to scare John,” she wrote as a caption over the video.
When Legend finally entered the room, he remained completely unbothered by the mask, bursting into laughter. “That’s it?” Teigen asked, clearly disappointed. “I’ve been sitting here sweating for 10 minutes. No reaction at all?”
Frustrated, she threw the mask at him, and Legend jokingly replied that he thought it was just one of her usual face masks. Fans couldn’t get enough of Teigen’s failed prank and shared their amusement in the comments.
“He said you always look like that 😂,” one fan joked. Another suggested, “Girl, you gotta jump out and scream. You’re lying there like a sexy Freddy Krueger—he’s probably into it.” “This is GOLD 😂😂😂,” another commenter added.
Teigen had actually debuted the Michael Myers mask days earlier for a playful video promoting her Cravings Coconut Cream robes. “Hey guys!
It’s me, Michael Myers! Get ready with me to do what I do best,” she said in the clip. At one point in the video, Legend appeared in the background, trying to avoid being caught on camera by crawling across the floor wearing only a towel.
“I don’t know what’s going on back there,” Teigen remarked, amused by Legend’s attempt to stay out of view. With her usual humor, she seamlessly transitioned, saying, “But now it’s time to pack up my favorite jumper into my favorite Row tote.”
The couple’s enthusiasm for Halloween extends to their children—Luna, 8, Miles, 6, Esti, 21 months, and Wren, 16 months—who are all embracing the spooky spirit this season.
On October 21, Teigen posted pictures of Luna dressed as a creepy clown and Miles wearing an inflatable Among Us costume. Another snapshot showed Wren sitting on top of a pumpkin, sporting overalls and a matching bandana.
Teigen has mentioned that she enjoys celebrating Halloween more for her kids now. “We love Halloween,” she said earlier this month. “But now it’s all about the kids. Honestly, I prefer it that way—they’re so adorable, the events are during the day, and I still get to go to bed early.”
