The recent breakup of Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson and Sharelle Rosado has come to light. On October 26, Rosado, 37, who gained fame from Selling Tampa, announced their separation on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that she and the former NFL player, who got engaged earlier this year and share a 2-year-old daughter named Serenity, are “no longer together.”
In her post, the real estate broker requested that people stop tagging them together, stating, “Chad and I are no longer together.” She followed this with, “He is a free man ladies.” Johnson, 46, responded to her announcement by reposting it on X, accompanied by a GIF from Arrested Development featuring a despondent George Michael, portrayed by Michael Cera.
Requests for comments from representatives for both Johnson and Rosado have not been answered yet. Just ten days prior, the couple demonstrated their support for each other on social media, with Rosado sharing Johnson’s X post promoting his upcoming appearance on the game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, hosted by Travis Kelce.
The news of their breakup arrived shortly after Johnson shared a personal interaction with David Beckham, during which he inquired about the secret behind Beckham’s enduring marriage to Victoria. Johnson recounted on X, “Honestly I asked about marriage & how they were able to last so long,” noting that Beckham emphasized the importance of patience.
On the same day, Johnson posted a picture of a McDonald’s bag with the caption “Date night,” paired with a smiley face emoji adorned with hearts. Rosado was neither mentioned nor tagged in this photo. Their engagement was confirmed on January 7, 2023, in an exclusive to PEOPLE.
Rosado expressed her surprise at the proposal, stating, “I’m honestly shocked! I’m at a loss for words.” They had previously referred to each other as “fiancés,” but Johnson made the moment official in front of family and friends in Miami, presenting her with a stunning 7.5-carat oval-cut engagement ring during what he claimed was an early birthday celebration.
Rosado shared her joy about the proposal, saying, “This was absolutely beautiful and to see my family and friends here to celebrate our love, that really did it for me.” She added that she was “very” surprised by the occasion, emphasizing how much it meant to her that he had arranged for their loved ones to witness such a special moment.
At the time of their engagement, Rosado reflected on their journey together, noting how emotional she felt because Johnson had often told her, “I’m going to make you my wife.” She remarked, “Although in my heart I knew we were always meant to be, now that it’s official, it’s even more special than I could have ever dreamed.”
