Rachel Bilson’s daughter has officially reached a milestone birthday. On October 29, the actress, known for her role in The O.C., posted charming photos of her daughter, Briar Rose, who is now 10 years old.
In one of the images, Briar gazes at the ocean, while another captures the two of them snuggling in matching pajamas as they enjoy a screening of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. In her heartfelt birthday message, Bilson wrote, “She’s 10. Happy Birthday my sweet, loving, kind, beautiful girl. You’re my reason. TEN! #bff I love you forever. ❤️❤️❤️”
In a conversation with PEOPLE earlier this month, Bilson mentioned that she might celebrate Chrismukkah with Briar for the first time this year. This special holiday was popularized by Seth Cohen, portrayed by Adam Brody, on The O.C. in 2003. The term combines Christmas and Hanukkah, allowing families to celebrate both traditions.
Bilson expressed her enthusiasm for introducing her daughter to Jewish customs, stating, “I like teaching my daughter some of the Jewish traditions and things like that, but Chrismukkah itself is like its own holiday we haven’t really done. But it sounds like this year might be the first.”
During an August episode of her podcast, Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen, Bilson shared insights about Briar’s temperament, noting that she is quite different from other children. “Bry’s definitely a different kid than I was,” she remarked. “Like, 100%.”
Bilson elaborated, “I almost feel weird talking about it with other parents because she doesn’t throw fits. It’s just…it’s not how she is. So if there’s ever a time where she’s off or gets kind of upset about something, it totally disregulates me.”
When questioned about her feelings on discussing Briar’s behavior, Bilson confessed it sometimes feels like boasting. “I just mean it sounds like, ‘Oh my kid doesn’t throw fits,’ you know, but I’m like, no. It’s actually the truth.”
